Neha Dhupia : Bye-bye To Lead Roles

Neha Dhupia
is certainly on a reinvention spree. She had two successful films to her name early this year in the form of MITHYA and SINGH IS KINNG. Now soon after the release of DASVIDANIYA, where she had a relatively smaller role to play though, she recently appeared in MAHARATHI. With the kind of films she is currently associated with, the ones where there isn't a conventional hero–heroine pairing, does it indicate bye–bye to lead roles?

"Tell me if you see actresses anyways doing something special in commercial films", Neha questions back.

Shahid Kapoor is VIP

Look who is being acknowledged as a VIP? It is none other than Shahid Kapoor. And no, it is not because his celebrity status is responsible for such special treatment. Neither is this because he is acting in a movie with VIP as its title. Instead, Shahid could well be conferred this title since he has been roped in as a brand ambassador of VIP luggage which is looking at reinventing itself in the face of competition from other new entrants in the market.

Confirms a source close to Shahid, "Yes, Shahid has indeed been signed as a brand ambassador for VIP and has even shot for a couple of commercials. He had stopped doing commercials for a few years but has been back with VIP since he liked the entire concept and their execution plan."

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi : Movie Review

It is Shahrukh Khan who lights up your life with his superb performance even though Aditya Chopra makes a mess of the heart-winning love story with an overdose of weepy melodrama in the second half of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi .

Friends! The director who made arguably the best Bollywood love story of the 90s ( Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge ) returns a slightly evolved filmmaker with realistic sensibilities that reek of Shimit Amin’s style in Chak De India , but not without the baggage of weepy sentimentality that has by now become synonymous with the Yashraj stamp. ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ is a love story you almost want to believe in. And you do believe it until the film runs past the half-way mark, when the director tries to repeatedly unleash one tear-jerking moment after another on the popcorn munching audiences, thus robbing the story of its credulity.

Ghajini : Movie Preview

How do you go about avenging someone you don’t remember? Ghajini is one such tale of love and vengeance of a man who suffers from memory loss.

The movie, starring Aamir Khan , Asin and Jiah Khan , is inspired from director Christopher Nolan’s film ‘Memento’. Director A.R. Murugadoss first made the Tamil adaptation of the film Ghajini (Tamil) in 2005. Interestingly, Murugadoss hadn’t seen ‘Memento’ but only heard its story when he made the Tamil flick.

Oh My God : Movie Review

Bollywood
filmmakers seem hell-bent on bringing the almighty down to earth. In film after film we are made to believe that God – probably unemployed in the recession-hit heaven – has all the time in the world to mend the lives of mortal earthlings.

After Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic , the tortuous God Tussi Great Ho and the hellish Hello , Oh, My God!! is yet another tale of divine intervention in the life of a protagonist who prays to God but doesn’t want His help at the cost of his morals.

Vinay Pathak plays Rajendra Dubey, a salesman with big dreams of becoming another Ambani someday. He has many money-making schemes that no one seems interested in. His wife ( Divya Dutta ) prays to the almighty for help. And lo and behold, God ( Saurabh Shukla ), dressed in all white, comes down himself to hand over bags of money to Dubey and also munch on some fast food and confectionary during His earthly sojourn.

Meerabai Not Out : Movie Review

Too many silly points mar this overblown tale of a woman who is crazy about cricket.

Meerabai Not Out is a film that causes embarrassment to the people watching it. More than that, it tests your patience with the slow pace of its utterly predictable plot. You know beforehand how the story’s going to wind up. Yet, you sit yawning and watching the proceeding on the screen with the same boredom as you see a five-day match drag to a lackluster draw.

The film’s central character Meerabai ( Mandira Bedi ) is a maths teacher whose life revolves around the game of cricket and its icon Anil Kumble. So much so that she prefers fantasies of Kumble to real men in flesh and blood. Obviously it’s a cause for concern for Meera’s close-knit family that has an elder brother ( Mahesh Manjrekar ), a disillusioned ex-cricketer who has come to hate the game.
